Mechanicals

• The Mechanicals in A Midsummer Night’s Dream are a group of craftsmen who have been chosen to perform a play at the wedding of Theseus and Hippolyta.
• Their rehearsals provide a lot of comedy  as they lose an actor, Bottom who was turned into a donkey.
• Bottom thinks he is the best and forgets his lines which causes a fight between the group.
• Because Bottom thinks he and the group are so good, he says that they should go into the mysterious woods to get some privacy so no one will see them practicing.
• When Bottom forgets his lines it makes everyone angry and Bottom storms off into the woods, little did he  know that Puck was watching him.
• When he returns he had been turned into a Donkey, which frightened the group and they went back home.
• The next day the group could not find Bottom and didn’t have a play ready for the wedding.
• That afternoon Bottom returned from the woods with an idea for the play, the group were so excited to see him.
• The group rushed to the wedding, hoping they had a chance of getting to perform their play infront of Hippolyta and Theseus.
• The group were chosen to perform their play, which brought a lot of comedy to the audience, because they were so unprepared and forgot so many lines.
• After the play they were asked to be the Kings entertainment and they were all very pleased.
